The Domino Effect Part 4

Written by Jason Rubin

Which team is next on the list?

The Miami Heat have the third best chance of landing LeBron James this offseason.  Why?  No state tax on his salary, year-round great weather, the alluring party atmosphere of South Beach and...a potential Batman and Robin duo with Dwyane Wade.  Life could be party time, all the time.  A combination of LeBron and Wade could actually make Michael Beasley relevant.  And with Miami's remaining cap space they could potentially bring in one more fairly large contract, an MLE-type player and a bunch of scrubs selected for the role player abilities to fill out a supporting cast.

Unfortunately, the Heat may have difficulties with frontcourt defense unless they acquire a defensive-minded center with the remaining cap space they would have.  And unfortunately for them, the defensive-minded big men are very limited this offseason.  However, despite not being a major market, the perks of playing in Miami would probably outweigh any negatives.  It remains to be seen if LeBron and Wade could get along long-term.  But I would be willing to bet that they could make it work.

Miami's chances of landing LeBron?  20%
